The Malaysian government is to release the final 1.5MW of quota for residential PV eligible for the 2013 feed in tariff (FIT).
The quota will be released in three 500kW phases with the first opening on Wednesday 28 August, the next on 4 September and the final 500kW on 11 September.
The Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA Malaysia) issued a firm statement to announce the releases and re-affirming that all projects approved for the 2013 rate of RM1.1316 (US$0.34) must be completed before the year’s end.
“There will be no more release of any solar PV quota for the individuals for 2013 after 11 September because it is not realistic for these individual Feed-In Approvals Holders (FiAHs) to be able to achieve commercial operation of their PV system by year end,” said Datin Badriyah Abdul Malek, CEO, SEDA Malaysia.
Projects that fail to become operational before the end of the year will only be eligible for the 2014 rate which is degressed 8% for individuals to RM1.0411 (US$0.31) for installs less than or equal to 4kW.
The degression for commercial installations is 20%.
