China's domestic market continues to offer choice opportunities for the country’s tier 1 solar players.

JA Solar on Tuesday announced plans to develop three solar power projects totaling 300 MW in Xingtai City in China's Hebei Province.

The projects, located in Xingtai City's Lincheng, Neiqiu and Xingtai counties, will each have a capacity of 100 MW.

JA Solar has obtained approval from the Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission to develop the first 50 MW phase of the Lincheng County project. The solar giant has also signed framework agreements with local authorities for the projects in Neiqiu and Xingtai counties and said that it expected to receive rights to develop the plants by the end of this year.

JA Solar increasing project development activities

"These projects are a major step forward as we look to increase the role project development plays in our overall revenue mix," said JA Solar Chairman and CEO Baofang Jin. “Over the past three years, we've built up experience in engineering, procurement and construction through the successful execution of over 100 MW of solar projects, and we see project development as a complement to our manufacturing business. Going forward, we will continue to explore project opportunities both domestically and internationally alongside our core business."
