Argonne Lab hosting Electrical Energy Storage Technologies and Applications Workshop

Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) is hosting the Electrical Energy Storage Technologies and Applications Workshop at its campus outside of Chicago on 20-21 March. The Workshop, sponsored by the Robert W. Galvin Center for Electricity Innovation at Illinois Institute of Technology is intended to provide background and an introduction to the work to be undertaken by the new $120-million Joint Center for Energy Storage Research at Argonne. The Joint Center will bring together multidisciplinary researchers from the government, academia, and industry to overcome critical scientific and technical barriers and create new breakthrough energy storage technology. The event will address:

Fundamentals of energy storage and its applications

State-of-the-art and emerging energy storage technologies

Performance criteria for energy storage technologies and applications

Energy storage marketplace

Costs and benefits for energy storage at the grid and distributed scales

Interconnectivity of energy storage with the electric grid

Research, development, and deployment challenges for energy storage technologies
